The Tide light rail in Norfolk is operated by Hampton Roads Transit. The train goes seven miles through downtown and out to the border with Virginia Beach.
There are eleven stops on the Tide system. They are Eastern Virginia Medical Center, Freemason (Chrysler Museum of Art), Monticello, MacArthur Square, Civic Plaza, Harbor Park, Norfolk State University, Ballentine, Ingleside, Military Highway, and Newtown. If you ride a bike to the train station, you can bring the bike with you on the train.
The Tide costs $2 to ride one-way. Children under 38 inches tall ride free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets can be purchased at vending machines at the stations. Buy your fare card before getting on the train.
